This fine month cup belongs to the set of twelve floral month cups, which was first produced in the Kangxi Period, used as wine vessels. This cup is finely potted with steep gently curved sides rising from a short tapering foot to a slightly everted rim, delicately painted with a flowering pomegranate in underglazed blue, the leafy plant amidst smaller flowers and rockwork, the reverse with a ten character poem in underglaze blue. The base writes in underglaze blue with a six-characters Kangxi mark within a circle.

The colour unfolds like the sun on pearl curtains.
The breeze bears the fragrance in the shade of the white-washed wall.
